Getting started

Installation and first steps

Install Battani on your infrastructure, sign in and get started with the free edition.

Before you install

Battani is a web console that runs on your own server. The installation scripts prepare the application, PostgreSQL database and optional Docker Registry with Docker Compose. Your Kubernetes cluster does not need to run on the same host as Battani.

  • Linux requires an x86_64/amd64 server, Docker Engine and the Compose plugin. The script offers to install Docker if it is missing.
  • Windows requires Docker Desktop running Linux containers.
  • The default web port is 4000. Cluster API endpoints and data services must be reachable from the Battani server.

Install on Linux

The official script writes installation files to /opt/battani by default, generates random passwords, downloads images and checks service health.

curl -fsSL https://battani.dev/install.sh | sudo sh

Install on Windows

Run this PowerShell command with Docker Desktop running. The default installation directory is the Battani folder under your user profile.

irm https://battani.dev/install.ps1 | iex

First sign-in and connection

Image downloads and online version checks use internet access. For an air-gapped installation, transfer the required images beforehand and prepare an appropriate offline license for paid use.

  1. Open the address shown at the end of installation and sign in with the admin account and generated password.
  2. Change your password after signing in. Back up the installation directory and .env file securely.
  3. Complete the company/installation details. The free edition does not require a license key; activating a paid license or trial is a separate step.
  4. Add and test a connection on the Clusters page, then open Overview.
