Live logs and terminals

Inspect container output, run commands in a Pod and manage diagnostic sessions.

From Pod to diagnosis

Open container logs and resource descriptions from the Pod page. Live log and terminal tools let you inspect the running application without leaving the browser. The global terminal panel keeps open terminal work accessible within the application.

  • Select the target container in a multi-container Pod.
  • Inspect Pod logs and describe details.
  • Open interactive terminals and execute commands in authorized Pods.

Investigate a connectivity issue

  1. Select the affected Pod and the correct container.
  2. Start with the error time and application messages in the logs.
  3. If you have terminal access, open a session and use the diagnostic tools available in the container.
  4. Close the terminal when finished and move lasting fixes into the workload configuration.

Session requirements

Log viewing and command execution require different permissions. The Kubernetes identity must also have log/exec access. A shell or diagnostic command cannot run if the container image does not contain it.

Live sessions depend on connectivity between your browser, the Battani server and the cluster. Temporary file changes inside a container may disappear when it restarts.
