Updates and maintenance

Check versions, use the update path appropriate to your installation and verify the outcome.

Before updating

Settings → Updates provides version checks and the update functions supported by your installation. Systems installed with the official Docker Compose script also have update scripts.

Back up the installation directory, .env file and persistent data. An application database backup and a registry image-data backup cover different things. Choose a maintenance window that accounts for open terminal and query sessions.

Linux Compose installation

Run the saved script for the default /opt/battani installation. If you installed elsewhere, specify your existing installation directory.

  • The script downloads the new image and, by default, creates a PostgreSQL backup in the backups directory.
  • It changes the version, recreates services and checks application health.
  • If the new version does not start, it attempts to return to the previous application version. Database migrations may still require separately restoring the backup.
sudo sh /opt/battani/update.sh

Verify after updating

Air-gapped environments require images to be transferred in advance. The update script does not automatically back up every external database, cluster workload or registry image.

  1. Confirm application health and the displayed version.
  2. Sign in and check license status and active-cluster access.
  3. Test the data-service connections you use.
  4. If a problem remains, inspect application logs and the update result, and consider database-migration effects before rolling back.
