Getting started

Free edition, trial and licensing

Understand the difference between free use without a time limit and the separate 30-day paid-edition evaluation.

What the free edition includes

You can use Battani without a license key within the free-edition limits. This use is not tied to a 30-day trial period.

  • 1 active user and 1 active Kubernetes cluster.
  • No new teams can be created.
  • At most 1 active connection for each service type: SQL, Redis, RabbitMQ and Elasticsearch.
  • At most 3 active data-service connections in total. For example, 1 SQL + 1 Redis + 1 RabbitMQ uses the full quota.

30-day trial and paid licenses

A 30-day trial is also offered to evaluate broader usage needs. It does not replace the free edition. The user, cluster and team limits of a trial or paid license follow the issued license.

An active paid license has no data-service connection quota. Documenting a feature does not mean every plan and permission level grants identical access; operation permissions and target-system requirements still apply.

Activate a license

Licenses are bound to the installation identity. Online validation and offline licenses have different network requirements; use an offline license for an air-gapped environment.

  1. Check your company name and Installation ID under Settings → License.
  2. Use this installation identity when requesting a trial or paid license.
  3. Enter the supplied license key in the activation field and verify its validity period and limits.

When a paid license ends

When there is no valid paid license, the free-edition limits apply. If active users or clusters exceed those limits, a system administrator can activate a license or reduce usage.

Connections that exceed the data-service quota are not deleted. The oldest connections that fit the quota can be opened, and the others remain manageable. The License page shows usage and exceeded limits.
